Emberlings is a tile-placing game that puts you in control of your own baby dragon. As you draw tiles, one side reveals an egg, which you place in your dragon’s lair — a cozy nest where your dragon is preparing to hatch. But don’t be fooled by the cuteness! Once your dragon emerges and takes flight, the real strategy begins.
As your dragon soars across the board, you’ll need to plan your moves carefully to capture magic islands, defeat rival dragons, and collect valuable treasures to add to your hoard. Every move counts, as you’ll need to strategically create mystic squares and capture tiles through dragon battles to build your hoard.
While Emberlings brings plenty of adorable dragons to the table, its gameplay is what truly sets it apart. We wanted to create a game that offers layers of strategy while still being accessible to teenaged players. Drawing and placing tiles requires both tactical decision-making and long-term planning. Should you create a mystic square to gain strategic advantage, explore a nearby magic island for treasure, or engage a rival dragon in battle?
Emberlings is powered by our partnership with ZU Studios, incorporating ZU Tiles mechanics like mystic squares and elemental compatibility symbols. This mechanic adds another layer of depth to each move. The challenge comes from building out these combinations to maximize points and capture tiles. The nature of each tile placement is ever-changing, ensuring no two games are alike.
The choices you make will determine whether you outwit your opponents and claim the most treasure. It’s a race for tactical dominance, creating mystic squares, and exploring a world filled with floating islands, magic potions, artifacts, and lovable companions.
Emberlings began as a simple idea inspired by my daughter’s fascination with dragons. We wanted to create a game that reflected the whimsical yet strategic nature of these mythical creatures. The concept of a dragon hatching from an egg and embarking on an adventurous journey was the perfect way to blend a fun theme with challenging mechanics.
We brought in experts in game mechanics to adapt the ZU Tiles system specifically for Emberlings, ensuring a seamless and engaging gameplay experience. After months of playtesting and refining, we’ve worked hard to strike the right balance between strategy and fun. Finally, we collaborated with talented artists to design the adorable dragons, and vibrant magic islands, putting our heart and soul into making sure this game offers something for everyone.
