Bramble Heart – Woodland Encounters 01 is a captivating set of newly imagined 3D-printable miniatures, each paired with a 5E-compatible profile sheet designed for RPG and tabletop gaming enthusiasts. As an added bonus, this campaign includes an additional FREE miniature and character sheet, featuring Ruby Squeak.
In this set, we are introducing encounter level monsters, minions, and bosses. We’ve cooked up a few surprising combats for your table that are perfect for a random encounter or could be the start to a whole campaign adventure.
The sword-brandishing and magically-inclined woodland heroes can’t live up to their potential without perilous quests and powerful enemies to overcome. We built our campaign to start to fill in details about the world we are imagining with Bramble Heart.
The edges of civilization butt up against enchanted deep forests, home to all manner of marauding enemies and rampaging beasts. Magic runs unchecked, and ancient powers are roused to serve malign influences. We want the setting of Bramble Heart to serve as an exciting backdrop for the stories you’d like to tell, while offering a few jumping off points to get your table started.
It wouldn’t be a forest fable without a big bad wolf lurking in the shadows. Though in the Bramblewood, there are worse things to face besides brutish wolves. This dire wolf pair could be part of a larger guild or a roaming duo, looking to ambush unsuspecting smaller critters.
Whether the Sabertooth Tracker is a friendly ally or a powerful antagonist might be entirely up to the actions of your adventurers. We love running him as a recluse expert of the woods, willing to work alongside adventurers for as long as their goals align with his own. A suggested story arc here: There’s something elusive that the tracker is dead-set on hunting down in the bramble, his white whale, so to speak.
You don’t have to be big to be frightening. The Mad Mouse Marauders are a gang of vicious rodentiary raiders who like to take advantage of their foes underestimating them. A single mouse might not be a problem on its own, but wait until they’ve suddenly got you surrounded. This is a fun encounter to play with numbers on, the mice aren’t individually that formidable, but stack up a handful and your party might find themselves in a bit of a pickle.
The bears are here! The Bruin Brigands are a fun pair of mercenaries to throw into your world as either a threat, or a goal for the party to ally with. They spend most of their time lazing around woodland taverns, mostly motivated by coin paid for their work as protectors, paid muscle, or even raiders. Although they’d certainly be the largest of their pals, our first Bruin Brigand model has the potential to be a stoic cleric or fighter character for one of your PC’s — or whatever else your imagination comes up with!
At the end of a journey, there is usually something large and vicious to defeat. The Giant Bramble Viper is our first take on a truly intimidating woodland boss. Just exactly how big this snake looms is somewhat up to you, but even at more standard scales, this reptile packs a punch. You’re going to have a blast painting the gnarly details on this one.
Speaking of minis that your paint kit is itching to get into, next up is the Madgebear Shaman! Another potential ally or foe to the party, the shaman is a blend of bird and massive mammal and is adorned in all manner of druidic magical totems and amulets. If your party doesn’t respect the sanctity of the forest, you might find this mage to be a more dangerous encounter.
A lizard wizard? This elemental-infused salamander is another mini that could double fantastically as a player character. In the meantime, the fiery little mage has his heart set on summoning a way back to whatever elemental plane he skittered out of. Usually to a variety of chaos causing results.
If you thought it was only the forest floor that held dangers, you’d be wrong. Our Lightning Harrier is another epic miniature that your party may find themselves fighting for their lives against. This powerful bird wields the raw power of storms and can stand his own even against a full party. Make sure your adventurers are ready before setting them in a life or death battle against the skies themselves.
One fun element of our new campaigns going forward is to try to provide some additional value with fun decorations, objectives, and scenery to use in your tabletop games. There will be a lot more stories to uncover in the future, but to start, we’re keeping things on-theme with what you might find in a whimsical, magic forest.
Magical mushrooms and energy-infused crystals seemed like a natural first stop, along with a host of stylized treasure chests, open, closed, filled and empty to reward valiant heroes or lead greedy ones to their doom. Lastly, a pair of unwitting townies, captured by marauders and resigned to a horrible fate, unless they can be rescued in time!
